Jeanette Cato (nee McIver) was a member of Australia’s inaugural Netball World Cup team that won the title in England in 1963.
She was first picked in the national team for the third Test of the 1960 series against New Zealand as a reserve for the Test played in Sydney.
An accurate shooter, Cato represented Victoria between 1958 and 1962 at the national titles.
She played in an exhibition match for her state against New Zealand in 1960 when a timber floor was laid over the top of the swimming pool at Olympic Park. Cato would later coach at club level for six years in a local churches competition.
In 2005 the victorious 1963 Australian team which Cato was a key part of was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame.
