The country’s best young netballers have gone head-to-head in Sydney for the 2025 National Netball Championships.
After a week of fierce competition, two states came out on top with South Australia and New South Wales going back-to-back.
Here’s what went down.
MCKAY MAKES HER MARK
South Aussie Jazmin McKay was a standout all week and delivered her A-game when it mattered most.
The defender was named as the Grand Final MVP and shared the Tournament MVP honours with Tassie’s Sophie Sherrif.
McKay following in the footsteps of her mother, Origin Diamond #113 Sarah Sutter, was everywhere in the final.
McKay was a standout throughout the week.The teen helped SA to hold off a strong NSW outfit to take out the big game by seven goals.
“I want to push and be the best I can be,” McKay said reflecting on echoing her mother’s footsteps at last year’s tournament.
The back-to-back gold medal the icing on the cake for the SA side who went through the entire week undefeated.
NSW RISE TO THE OCCASION
With the roar of the crowd behind them every step of the way NSW fought through the tournament to feature in the big dance.
Dropping three games throughout the week the side never gave up and found themselves competing for the ultimate prize.
NSW were strong throughout the 19s Grand Final.Having learned from their mistakes they were raring to go in the grand final up against Victoria who they’d lost to earlier in the week.
And when it mattered most, the NSW cohort got the job done.
Taking control through the midcourt Nevaeh Matenga seized her opportunities throughout the final.
Named as the match MVP, Matenga was one of many who knew their role and played it exceptionally well on grand final day for the host side to run out seven goal winners.
While it was Queensland’s Tia Molo who took out top honours as Tournament MVP for the 19s.
The midcourter powered through each match and was a weapon in the side’s bronze medal clash with Western Australia.
