Broadcast and Rights Deal 2022 FAQ

Kayo is already available on most smart TVs including a range of Android TVs, Samsung TVs, plus others along with devices such as Telstra TV, Apple TV and Chromecast.  

The new broadcast rights agreement starts in 2022. All games will be available live and timeslots will be set in the lead up to the 2022 season. 

Two Suncorp Super Netball games a week and international games will be available live on Kayo free. All you need to do is set up a login with a username and password, no credit card details are required. For other Suncorp Super Netball Games, you will need a Kayo subscription which is $25/month and provides you 50 sports live and the ability to stream on your mobile device or watch on your smart TV. Or you can watch every game on Foxtel with a sport package. 

Every week, two Suncorp Super Netball games will be available live and free as part of Kayo’s recently announced Freebies, along with every match of the Suncorp Super Netball Finals Series and all Origin Australian Diamonds matches (currently excluding Netball World Cup and Commonwealth Games as these event fall under separate rights). 

Two Suncorp Super Netball matches per round on Kayo will require a paid subscription. 

The fixture will be determined in the lead up to the 2022 season. 

All Origin Diamonds matches (currently excluding Netball World Cup and Commonwealth as these event fall under separate rights) played in any given year will be broadcast as Kayo Freebies.

All games under the new broadcast agreement will also be available live on Foxtel for subscribers with a sports package. A separate subscription to Kayo is not required.

The Netball Live Official App will no longer stream matches from 2022. Matches will continue to be streamed on the Netball Live Official App as normal in 2021. 

After the 2021 season, the Netball Live Official App will no longer stream matches. You will need a Kayo login to watch free matches and a subscription to watch all matches. 

You will be able to watch two Suncorp Super Netball matches per round, all Suncorp Super Netball Finals matches and all Origin Diamonds matches live and free as Kayo Freebies. 

You will need a paid Kayo subscription to watch the remaining two Suncorp Super Netball matches per round. More information on pricing of Suncorp Super Netball matches on Kayo will be provided prior to the 2022 season.  

This deal will see the same number of matches delivered free to fans through Kayo Freebies as the deal currently in place. 

A new Collective Player Agreement will now be negotiated as a result of this landmark deal so that is yet to be determined, but this agreement is a better financial outcome for netball and will benefit the entire sport from grassroots to elite.

All clubs currently invest significant funds into player salaries. This will no longer be the case and will help the viability of all teams and the competition as a whole.  

The agreement with the Foxtel Group is the best outcome for the game and its financial future, for fans, for players and for the game’s grassroots. This deal will see the same number of matches delivered live and free to fans through Kayo Freebies. 

Commencing from January 2022, the term is for five years through until December 2026. 

The agreement is not effective until 2022. We will work with Foxtel over the next year to look at how we can make a seamless transition of Netball Live subscribers to the equivalent features that will be part of the Kayo offering. We will keep you up to date.
