An agile defender with good aerial ability and a solid attacking game, Alison Broadbent (nee Williams) spent five years in the Australian team.
Broadbent overcame two knee reconstructions early in her career to become a top line player. Her defensive combination with Liz Ellis was strong both domestically for the Sydney Swifts and also internationally.
Broadbent represented Australia at two Commonwealth Games – being part of the gold medal side at Manchester in 2002 – and the 2003 Netball World Cup.
She made more than 150 appearances for the Swifts in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy before retiring at the end of the 2006 season.
