Steel received the AIS Scholarship in 2008 and 2009 whilst she played in the Australian 21/U Team.
She played 6 caps for the Diamonds between 2010 and 2011 in the World Netball Series.
After winning the ANZ Championship as a part of the Queensland Firebirds in 2011 Steel moved to the Vixens, who won the ANZ Championship in 2014.
In an attempt to get more court time Steel left the Vixens for the Thunderbirds in 2015 before taking the 2016 season off due to an acute bout of Glandular Fever.
