Born and raised in country Victoria, Darcy was named vice-captain of Australia’s 1966 tour of New Zealand where the team played matches against representative sides as part of their preparations for the world titles the following year.
Darcy was vice-captain of the 1967 team and named Australian captain in 1968 and again in 1969 but never filled the role having retired.
She continued to be involved in netball as a coach in Victoria’s Western District for many years afterwards.
