Heather Chibnall (nee McLean) made her international debut in the second match of Australia’s 1967 Netball World Cup campaign in Perth against South Africa.
The Victorian shooter was first named in the Australian team at the end of the 1965 national championships to tour New Zealand the following year.
Chibnall represented Victoria at the national championships for six years from 1964 to 1970. She had a long reach and powerful leap and her athleticism and accuracy made her a tough opponent.
Chibnall was also involved with basketball at state level, serving on the Victorian Basketball Council for many years and as a selector for schoolgirl sides.
She coached club and school netball teams in her home town of Ballarat and continued to be involved in the sport in the region up until 2014.
