Speed and elevation were features of the playing style of Janelle Petersen (nee Soden) in her five-year stint as part of the Australian side.
Having made her debut in Auckland on Australia’s 1982 tour of New Zealand, Petersen went onto be a member of Australia’s 1987 Netball World Cup team and also served as team vice-captain.
A product of the Queensland junior system, Petersen represented her state at underage and open level for more than a decade.
In 1984 Petersen was part of a Queensland state team that was made up entirely from the same local association – Downey Park.
She was involved with coaching at a local level post her playing days.
