A prolific goal scorer at domestic level, Joanne Morgan played in an era when Australia had a wealth of shooters to select from.
Her Height, strength and high accuracy were key features of Morgan’s game.
She was the first player to reach 2000 goals in the Commonwealth Bank trophy and was the competition’s third highest all-time goalscorer with 4250 goals from 127 appearances for the Sydney Swifts, Sydney Sandpipers and Queensland Firebirds. In 2007 she captained the Firebirds.
Morgan’s sole Test came in the second Test of the Milo Cup against New Zealand in Adelaide, which Australia won 58-39.
Morgan was part of the Firebirds’ inaugural ANZ Championship squad in 2008.
She has been involved with talent identification work, coaching and serving as a selector for Queensland’s underage teams.
