The very first `official’ netball match that June Noseda (nee Cousens) played was while she was studying Year 12 at MacRobertson Girls High School as a favor for her then physical education teacher and future mentor Margaret Pewtress
That was with the Melbourne Club’s A Grade team that competed in a Saturday afternoon competition at Royal Park.
Noseda went onto captain Victoria at the national championships and selected in Australia’s team that contested the inaugural Netball World Cup in England in 1963 and claimed the gold medal.
A skillful player who could fill any midcourt role, Noseda would later go on to serve the sport for decades as a coach and administrator at both club, association and state level in Victoria.
