A defender with superior timing and ability, Karan Smith (nee Bulloch) made her Test debut in Australia’s Tri-Series against New Zealand and England in June, 1981.

Smith toured New Zealand in 1982 but the highlight of her career was being part of Australia’s triumphant 1983 Netball World Cup team in Singapore.

She was renowned as a spectacular player to watch in action and teammates could always rely on her to make an impact in a match.

She made her first New South Wales state team at the age of 17, serving as vice-captain at two national championships.

Smith has remained involved with the sport for many years taking on various coaching roles and assisting good friend and former Australian teammate Anne Sargeant by running netball clinics.
