The South Australian shooter made her Test debut after being a late call-up to the team as a replacement for the injured Catherine Cox on Australia’s 2004 tour of New Zealand.

Heinrich’s selection came after an impressive season in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy for the Adelaide Thunderbirds, where she averaged 31 goals a game to rank only behind Cox and Sharelle McMahon.

Accurate shooting, energy, movement and use of “the roll” were strengths of her game.

Heinrich was a member of Australia’s the 19/U Talent Identification Squad in 1997 and 1998 and was selected in the Australian 21/U Squad in 1999.

Domestically, Heinrich played four seasons with the Adelaide Ravens in the former Commonwealth Bank trophy, one year at Perth Orioles and five at the Thunderbirds. She was part of the Thunderbirds’ inaugural ANZ Championship squad in 2008.

In her final season playing at state league level in South Australia in 2011, Heinrich was named the competition’s Most Valuable Player.
