Some impressive performances on an Australian `B’ tour of New Zealand earned Marianne McCormick (nee Murphy) a call-up for her international debut in the 1994 MILO Cup against Trinidad and Tobago.
McCormick was a member of Australia’s triumphant 1995 Netball World Cup team, which she rates as the highlight of her career.
The midcourter was vice-captain of the Australian 21/U team and in 1992 named Player of the Mobil League Series. She was quick on her feet and an accurate feeder to the goalers.
Since 2002 netball teams from high schools in her hometown of Orange play annually for the Marianne Murphy Shield.
