As a defender, Sutter had a tremendous stretch over the ball and was renowned for being a terrific pass from the back court.

She came under attention of national selectors after forming a brilliant combination with Kathryn Harby-Williams at state league level in Adelaide, making her first squad in 1992. 

Sutter made her Test debut two years later and was part of Australia’s 1995 Netball World Cup and 1998 Commonwealth Games gold medal-winning teams. 

Sutter, who also vice-captained the Adelaide Thunderbirds in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy, worked hard to be a more balanced player and was extremely team orientated.
