With a big on court personality, both in playing style and vocals, Layton’s career in netball has reflected that.
Her outstanding performance in the 2010 ANZ Championship season led to her appointment on the Diamonds team for 2011 where the team won Gold at the World Championship.
However, a downside to her impressive physicality on court is the slew of injuries that came with it. In 2012 she took the season off due to a knee injury but rallied for 2013.
Layton was a part of the Gold medal winning 2014 Commonwealth Games team, the 2015 World Cup team (gold) and she captained the Diamonds from late 2016 during the 2017 Quad series.
In 2017 she took time off to look after her mental health, prior to that she had played every International Test from 2016. She came back in 2018 for a final year with the Collingwood Magpies before retiring from Netball to play AFLW.
