Noted for her strength at goal attack, Burton (nee Hayes) was a star at both club, state and national level.
She was part of two Australian winning Netball World Cup teams in 1975, where she made her international debut, and 1979.
Burton was named vice-captain of the Australian team on its 1978 tour of England that celebrated the Golden Jubilee of the sport in the country.
Renowned for her left-handed shooting style and ability to dodge opponents made Burton a difficult match-up for defenders.
