Susan Kenny earned the on-court nickname of `The General’ because of her uncanny ability to read the game and create attacking opportunities.
She captained the Australian 21/U side in 1986 and then made her senior international debut later that year on Australia’s tour of England.
She was a member of the Australian team for eight years, serving as vice-captain between 1989 and 1994. Kenny was part of the Australian team at the 1990 Commonwealth Games where netball was played as a demonstration sport.
She was also a member of the triumphant 1991 Netball World Cup team.
After her playing career ended Kenny turned her attention to coaching and was assistant coach of Australia’s 2010 Commonwealth Games side.
