A natural athlete who possessed great speed, Susan Meaney was able to cover any centre court position.

Having captained the Australian 21/U team to victory at the 1996 World Youth Cup in Canada, Meaney was named in her first open squad the following year.

But it wasn’t until Australia’s tour of England in 2001 where Meaney finally made her international debut.

Meaney played 120 matches over eight seasons for Melbourne Phoenix in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy, being part of their premiership sides in 1997, 2000, 2002 and 2003.
