After retiring from representative basketball in 1968, Kennedy turned her attention to netball and was named vice-captain of Australia’s triumphant team at the 1971 Netball World Cup in Jamaica.
She was known as a tough and uncompromising defender at either goal keeper or goal defence. Fierce competitiveness was also another strong feature of her game.
Her defensive performances during the 1979 World Championships were integral to the Australian team’s success.
