Jencke recently lead her Queensland Firebirds to back-to-back ANZ Championship titles in a thrilling final decided in extended extra-time. She is the most successful ANZ Championship coach in history, with a 73 per cent winning record, in addition to being the only coach to lead their team to three premierships (2011, 2015, 2016). Jencke is also the only coach to lead a team to back-to-back titles.
The appointment provides further stability for the Diamonds as they prepare for the Commonwealth Games Gold Coast 2018 and Netball World Cup Liverpool 2019.
“It is important for the Diamonds to have continuity and stability in high performance coaching, leading into our benchmark events,” said Netball Australia’s Head of High Performance, Andrew Collins.
“Our national netball league coaches form strong connections to their athletes in the daily training environment and it is important that they are connected to our international environment and events. All of our national league coaches form part of our highly successful national program and they are critical important to our system.”
“Roselee’s coaching record speaks for itself,” Collins said.
Jencke will also continue in her role as head coach of the Queensland Firebirds, after re-signing with the club until 2018. She will only operate in her capacity as Diamonds Assistant Coach outside of the national netball league season.
“We thank Netball Queensland for their support of Rose and their support for her in undertaking this role,” said Collins.
Diamonds Head Coach Lisa Alexander looks forward to working with the champion defensive specialist, stating that she is the right person for the job.
“Roselee has earnt this position based on many factors, she is a winning championship coach and her loyalty and integrity in terms of supporting the national program has been aligned and consistent since the beginning of my term as national coach.
“She has been of utmost support to me professionally and I look forward to working closely with her and our Diamonds,” said Alexander.
