The pair were selected as part of a targeted recruitment process that identified their strengths, specialist experience and knowledge to complement the Diamonds high-performance environment.
Diamonds Head Coach, Lisa Alexander said Ferguson and Anderson will contribute greatly to the technical development and culture of the squad.
“Both coaches read and interpret the game extremely well. They both have a contemporary knowledge of what a great performance looks like and will empower athletes within the Diamonds learning environment.
“Both coaches value hard work and are very much about creating an environment that allows the squad to improve every day. A key ingredient when competing in tournament style events.
“Both Ferguson and Anderson have held coaching roles in the Netball Australia Centre of Excellence program, have experience in specialist roles with clubs and hold current coaching accreditation,” Alexander said.
Ferguson, 33, a three-time national champion with the Queensland Firebirds and Australian representative will take on the specialist defensive coach position.
“It’s a real honour to be given the opportunity to support the Diamonds aspirations for this year’s International Test Series ahead of the 2019 Netball World Cup in England.
“I can’t wait to start working with the girls. It’s a relatively fresh group after a few retirements and new faces were added to the Diamonds squad.
“I’ve worked with a number of the players through the pathway programs and in club coaching roles and, l believe I can have an impact evolving the defensive group,” Ferguson said.
A creative player either in the shooting circle or at wing attack, Anderson, 43, turned from playing to coaching in 2011 and will take on the role of specialist goal shooting coach.
“I’m itching to get to work. It was an honour as a player to wear the green and gold, and now as a coach I’m equally determined to help the Diamonds be the best in the world.
“We have such talented attacking options in the Diamonds squad, my job is to refine the technical and tactical output to cater for the demands of international netball.
“It’s about creating an environment that allows the group to work hard, succeed and enjoy the experience.
“It is a great opportunity to work alongside Clare and Lisa [Alexander] to develop an environment that will challenge us as coaches, but also the athletes to grow and get better on and off the netball court,” Anderson said.
The Diamonds first match since the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games is on 15 September against the South Africa Spar Proteas in Auckland, New Zealand.
The much anticipated match against the England Roses takes place in Newcastle, Australia on 19 September.
