To support this goal, in March 2015, Netball Australia launched the Netball Foundation, run in partnership with the Australian Sports Foundation, to raise money to help women and girls achieve their full potential both on and off the court. This partnership enables tax deductibility and Deductible Gift Recipient status.
The journey to play netball for Australia is long, with many sacrifices and rewards along the way. Financial rewards are inadequate compared to male counterparts and media coverage for women’s sport is not as high as it is for men’s sport, resulting in less exposure and consequently less commercial support. Despite this, the Australian Diamonds are inspiring a new generation of women who aspire to succeed on and off the netball court.
Diamonds Circle is a cornerstone of the Netball Foundation, raising funds to enable Netball Australia to enhance its investment in the Australian Diamonds pathway by expanding the Wellbeing Program in key support areas, such as:
Lifestyle management
Physical health
Mental health
Career counselling and planning
Personal development and training courses
Educational guidance
Employment preparation
Career referral networks
The transition to professional netball
The transition into retirement from professional netball
Performance enhancement
Endorsed referral network
Hardship fund
Research and resources to minimise risk of injuries and advance rehabilitation practices
Members of Diamonds Circle become an integral part of the Australian Diamonds family and will make a direct contribution both on and off the court.
