The third match of the Constellation Cup series at Melbourne’s John Cain Arena on Wednesday 19 October will mark the first Diamonds game in Australia in 1088 days, and the first since their gold medal campaign at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Melbourne is the second Australian Constellation Cup venue to sell out with more than 9,736 tickets issued.
The first two matches of the Constellation Cup series were played last week in New Zealand, with both wins going to the Silver Ferns.
After the third match in Melbourne. the Diamonds will play their final leg of the series at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on Sunday 23 October.
"We are thrilled both Australian Constellation Cup matches have been declared sell outs as the Origin Australian Diamonds make their return to play at home in over 1088 days,” said Netball Australia CEO Kelly Ryan.
“This news is exciting for our national team and speaks volumes to the overwhelming support from the netball community.
“We look forward to seeing Melbourne host the first game of our long-awaited international series and thank the Victorian Government for their support.”
In a historic world first, the incredible talent within the Australian Men’s team will also be on display in Melbourne with a curtain raiser match again the New Zealand Men’s team preceding the women.
The Australian Men made history in New Zealand last Wednesday to win the first match of the Trans-Tasman Cup, defeating New Zealand by 16 goals, 64-48.
“The curtain raiser is an important step forward for our game, both in Australia and internationally,” Australian Men’s and Mixed Netball Association president, Andrew Simons, said.
“Netball fans can look forward to a fast and aerial game, and the heading-turning speed of the Australian men's ball movement for which they’re known.
“This is an exciting opportunity to showcase our Australian Men’s team to netball fans around the world - and doing so alongside our Australian Diamonds makes it even better.
“Ultimately, it shares the pinnacle of the game we love and hopefully inspires the next generation of Australian men's netballers, as well as encourages males of any age to play netball.”
