The Australian Kelpies will return to the international stage this October to compete alongside the Origin Australian Diamonds in the 2024 Constellation Cup.
The Kelpies, Australia’s national men’s team, will contest New Zealand’s Net Blacks across matches in Wellington, Auckland, Canberra and Melbourne in pursuit of the Trans-Tasman Cup.
The men’s matches will coincide with the Origin Diamonds’ Constellation Cup campaign against the New Zealand Silver Ferns.
The double-headers will commence from Sunday 20 October at Wellington’s TSB Arena with match two to follow at Spark Arena in Auckland on Wednesday 23 October.
Match three won't be a double-header but the series will cross the Tasman to take place in Canberra at the AIS Netball Centre of Excellence on Sunday 27 October.
Then the series will come to a conclusion as the final double-header hits Melbourne’s John Cain Arena on Wednesday 30 October.
President of the Australian Men’s and Mixed Netball Association (AMMNA), Andrew Simons, expressed his enthusiasm for the Kelpies’ return this year.
“AMMNA is excited to continue our partnership with Netball Australia as the Kelpies and Origin Australian Diamonds once again tour together across Australia and New Zealand,” he said.
"Having the Australian Kelpies as a regular fixture alongside the Diamonds for the Constellation Cup delivers an extraordinary amount of top-tier netball on the one day for fans to feast on.
“Responding to calls from the fans for more netball action, the Kelpies will also host the Net Blacks in an additional game as part of the Tran-Tasman Cup. This new fixture will be held in Canberra on October 26 bringing the series closer to fans and further enhancing the world-class netball experience."
The Kelpies and Diamonds will be on the hunt to keep reign of their respective titles after Australia took home both the Constellation Cup and Trans-Tasman Cup in 2023.
Australian Kelpies Head Coach, Nerida Stewart, said the Kelpies team are in good stead for October.
“All the players and staff are relishing at another opportunity to introduce the Australian Kelpies to netball fans both here and across the ditch,” she said.
"We are really excited to showcase the best men’s netballers in the world alongside the Diamonds - our world champions.
"In the off season the Kelpies have been committed to elevating their game in order to deliver an exciting and highly skilled performance across the test series.
"We are really proud to showcase the dream for the boys and young males within our netball pathway. It’s the legacy we get to build.”
