Staying focused on improving as a team over the course of the three Tests in Liverpool and London, reach our targets and stay disciplined on our game plan.
Big tick.
We also came away with three solid wins over England and, importantly, also gave all 12 athletes in the team some court time.
This is not a given as each and every athlete knows that they have to earn your time on court through consistent training performances.
This was evident with all Diamonds athletes - and our training partners Stephanie Wood and Kristiana Manu’a – as they all worked extremely hard at training and also at evaluating our performances in our analysis sessions.
The new rules introduced by the International Netball Federation earlier this month were also a major point of discussion and preparation.
Although lacking in International Caps our squad was highly professional in all areas of preparation for this Test Series and performed above expectations.
We also want to thank everyone back home for all your support over the series and for watching the games live on TV or via the Netball Live App. It does make a difference!
Now that our Diamonds athletes are back in their home states, they will continue preparing for the upcoming ANZ Championship season.
The Pre-Season Shootout in Sydney and Auckland is now just seven weeks away.
It’s now a few months until the Diamonds will come together with a new squad to assemble for a training camp in June.
In late August we’ll be back in action for the inaugural SANZEA series featuring ourselves, New Zealand, England and South Africa.
This will be an important competition for all four nations leading into the next performance cycle, in particular the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.
I’m already looking forward to the exciting times that lay ahead.
Lastly, congratulations once again from the entire netball community to Renae Ingles (nee Hallinan) and her husband Joe on the news this week they’re expecting the arrival of twins later this year.
A couple of future Aussie Diamonds or Aussie Boomers?
Go Diamonds!
