After making her Samsung Australian Diamonds debut in 2010, the 30-year-old featured on 61 occasions for the national side.
A widely respected leader on and off the court, Robinson is the only player in Australian netball history to have won the prestigious Liz Ellis Diamond on two occasions (2012 and 2014) and was named International Player of the Year in both of those career-defining campaigns.
A champion of the sport, Robinson said she was proud to have represented the Diamonds for eight years.
“I have cherished every moment and opportunity that I’ve had to wear the green and gold with my sisters in arms.
“My journey has taken me through many highs and lows over the eight years, but throughout it all, I’ve relished the chance to play with my teammates, enjoy the success and most importantly, be that role model for the next generation of aspiring netballers.
“The 2014 gold medal was particularly special. To have experienced that alongside some of my great friends and colleagues in Laura Geitz, Bianca Chatfield and Renae Ingles will go down as one of my proudest achievements.
“I am so proud and honoured to have played netball for my country, but the time is right for me now to sign off as the Australian Diamond #152 and close that chapter of my life,” Robinson said.
Diamonds head coach Lisa Alexander said Madi has been a consistent performer at the highest level and has led with energy and excitement on and off the netball court for the past eight years.
“She has demonstrated a resilience that has enabled her to bounce back from adversity and continue to remain a positive influence on the players around her.
“Madi’s list of achievements speak for themselves and she has been a key component for the Diamonds in its success over recent years.
“I will be forever grateful for her commitment to the team and in her ability to be a strong role model in signifying our “sisters in arms” trademark,” Alexander said.
Resilience has often become a term associated with the dynamic mid-courter, after making two successful returns to the Diamonds squad since 2015.
In the most-recent Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, Robinson worked her way back into contention and starred for the Diamonds in their silver-medal campaign.
In 2016, the fearless winger made a triumphant return to the international stage after recovering from an ACL injury that ruled her out for the previous year.
Robinson said overcoming these challenges have helped shaped the person and player that she is today.
“There’s been heartbreak, there’s been injuries and there’s been a lot of hoops that I’ve had to jump through along the journey.
“However, my script has never been a fairy-tale, so for me to have made it back to the Commonwealth Games on home soil and finish off my Diamonds career with a strong campaign; I feel really comfortable with my decision.
“My love and passion for the game of netball remains as strong as it did when I began playing at six years old, so my focus and energy now will be with the Collingwood Magpies in the Suncorp Super Netball competition,” Robinson added.
With a host of individual and team accolades accomplished across her international career, Robinson will go down as an Australian netball great.
