Coming straight off a strong Constellation Cup series win, the team remains unchanged with both Kate Moloney and Jamie-Lee Price travelling with the team as the group continues its preparation for the 2019 Netball World Cup.
Samsung Diamonds head coach Lisa Alexander said the selection of 13 athletes for the January tournament will allow for further trialling and experimentation leading into the Netball World Cup in July.
“We’re taking five mid-court athletes to England in January so we can continue to explore and evolve our playing combinations and game plan as we head towards the World Cup,” she said.
“Kate and Jamie-Lee both contributed differently to our mid-court during the Constellation Cup so we’re keen to explore those combinations a little bit further.
“I was very impressed with how we performed in both the recent Quad Series and Constellation Cup so I’m looking forward to January where we’ll again be competing on the world stage, further developing our game plans and starting to really build towards our 2019 World Cup campaign.”
The 2019 Quad Series is being played from 13 to 20 January with matches against South Africa, England and New Zealand taking place in Liverpool and London.
Following on from the January Quad Series and leading into the 2019 Netball World Cup, the Samsung Australian Diamonds will hold a squad training camp in March and a selection camp in May.
Selectors will also be keeping a very close eye on potential talent within the Suncorp Super Netball season too and will make a final selection call of 12 athletes for the 2019 Netball World Cup team by the beginning of June.
