The Samsung Australian Diamonds have announced two new appointments to their staffing structure, with Jason Howell joining as Strength and Conditioning Lead and Dr Carlee Van Dyk being appointed the new Team Doctor.
Howell joins the Australian team boasting significant experience in the sport through his strength and conditioning role at the New South Wales Institute of Sport (NSWIS) working across a wide array of sports, but most recently as the NSW Swifts’ Physical Performance Manager.
A practitioner with the Olympic Park Sports Medicine Centre, Dr Carlee Van Dyk exhibits extensive team doctor experience including working as a track and field medical officer at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, within A-League Football, also within AFLW and clubs and with several national teams competing at world championships.
Netball Australia Executive General Manager of Sport Andrew Collins spoke enthusiastically about the new appointments and the importance of such roles to a team’s success.
“We’re thrilled to have Jason and Carlee working within the Samsung Diamonds’ program. As the world’s best netball team, we continue to drive the highest standards and believe that both Jason and Carlee have the expertise to ensure we maintain ‘world-best’ performances and our number one position,” he said.
“Between these two great appointments, we’ve brought years of elite sport experience – not only just in netball but across a range of sports – into the Samsung Diamonds program and we’re thrilled to have Jason and Carlee on board to assist the team in claiming all the success possible this year.”
Both Howell and Van Dyk have been working within the Samsung Diamonds environment since the 2018 September Quad Series and Constellation Cup tours and have now joined on a permanent basis.
The Samsung Diamonds kick off their 2019 campaign this weekend at the 2019 Quad Series with the first match being played against South Africa SPAR Proteas at Echo Arena in Liverpool at 2:30am AEDST.
