Wood is resting an upper leg injury that she and the Samsung Diamonds medical team have been managing over the past few days.
Squad member Tegan Philip has joined the team in Melbourne and will be the replacement for Wood in tomorrow’s Quad Series match.
Head coach of the Samsung Diamonds Lisa Alexander said the medical team have been monitoring Wood closely and the decision was made this morning to rest her.
“We’re confident that by resting Steph tomorrow she’ll be back to full strength by our first Constellation Cup match in Brisbane on October 7,” she said.
“Tegan attended our pre-series camp in Canberra last week and trained well with the team yesterday.
“While it’s unfortunate that we’ll be heading into a tough clash without Steph, Tegan is a part of our squad, we’re impressed with her recent form and we know that she’ll bring what’s required to the match tomorrow.”
The final matches of the 2018 Netball Quad Series are taking place as a double-header at Melbourne Arena tomorrow.
